This traditional Italian sweet was first made in 1879 by the Apocathery Enrico Righi in occasion of the visit of the royal Queen Margherita to Siena, a Tuscun town in Italy. It's sweet, soft and delicate scented with vanilla, candied lime and melon and spices.
Panforte is soft, slightly chewy and sometimes a little sticky, but irresistible.
Normally enjoyed in winter, perhaps with coffee and liqueurs after a meal. Served as small slices.
