Dating back to the 12th century, Panpepato (“peppered bread”) is a rich variation of the classic Panforte, created when exotic spices from the Far East — cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and black pepper — first reached European shores.

Today, master bakers continue to use these original ingredients, preserving the deep, aromatic flavours that have made this Tuscan treat beloved for generations.

Soft, spicy, and full of warmth, Panpepato is traditionally enjoyed in winter, served in small slices with coffee or liqueurs after a meal — a true taste of Italian history.
