A simple and ancient recipe to preserve the juicy, thin-skinned figs of Calabria. The figs are slowly baked for 5/6 hours, pressed together into a ball then wrapped in a fig leaf. Unwrap the fig leaf and figs are bursting with juice!
These caramelised figs are irresistible with fresh pecorino cheese, ricotta and other creamy cheeses. Or simply enjoy alongside coffee. They are great to unwrap at a dinner party and make a rustic dessert centrepiece.
