Hasslacher’s Organic sugarcane panela is made on a family run ‘trapiche’ using only the very best organic sugarcane. The juice is cold pressed and filtered and then heated to a thick caramel-like consistency. It is then poured into moulds and finally is pulverised for ease of use.
Because the process does not involve refining and centrifuging, the Panela retains the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals that are inherently present in the raw sugar cane. The traditional method of production gives it a mild but naturally fruity toffee flavour which makes it perfect for porridge, cocktails, home baking and desserts.
