A dangerously good bag of beans.
This Malawi medium roast from the Algerian Coffee Stores in Soho is rich, smooth and wonderfully flavoursome, without tasting as though someone has accidentally cremated it.
Proper coffee, in other words: plenty going on, no burnt bitterness, and sufficiently good to make the first cup disappear with suspicious speed.
I intended to have one cup.... That was optimistic.
I am now several cups in, unusually alert, and considering reorganising the cutlery drawer by emotional importance.
Excellent beans. Possibly too excellent.
