From the dark roast I expected the usual dark roast flavours, but on the pallette this feels more like a medium.
There's some chocolate for sure, but this is dominated by biscuity notes, like rich tea biscuits and maybe some shortbread and the citrus notes give a kind of lemon puff biscuit flavour. No bitterness, very very smooth. It defies expectation. Dark but not bitter, bright and citrusy but not astringent. A dry finish. Really packs a wallop with the caffeine too. This is something delightfully different.
Delicious dark chocolatey cup of coffee
I’m not great at describing complex flavours but I know when something hits the spot. This coffee certainly does. The dark roast doesn’t make it at all bitter but gives it a lot more punch than medium roasted African coffees without losing the subtle edge that distinguishes them from South American beans.
Lovely coffee for first thing in the morning
