One of our classic House Blends created decades ago, and still one of the favourites with our customers.

Velluto Nero (meaning ‘black velvet’ in Italian) is a blend of Southern and Central American high roast beans which makes it deliciously strong and smooth.  

A favourite blend for use in a stovetop espresso, but works well in all styles. Strong, smooth with a balanced acidity, a little robusta in the blend gives a good little punch and bite. 

Beans: Arabica & Robusta

Process: Natural & Washed

Simply the best

Mornings are just not the same without my cafetière of Velluto Nero. I can't imagine liking any coffee more, ever! Wonderful customer service, too. Long live this amazing shop! x

Lifelong habit

My late father started buying this coffee in the late 1950s and never stopped. It came either from the shop or by post (when we lived away from London), so it’s a very familiar flavour and evokes a strong emotional response. After a long gap drinking inferior blends, I returned to the fold 6 or 7 years ago. The postal service is very reliable and the coffee is still great. Thank you.

I've been buying Velluto Nero since 1990. I've tried other blends over the years, but nothing comes close. The epitome of Italian coffee.
