Red Bush tea does not come from the Camellia sinensis tea plant as do traditional true teas. Instead, this herb grows from the plant Aspalathus linearis which is native only to South Africa, the Western Cape Province. The leaves are green but turn red when oxidized.
South Africans have a taste for drinking this tea with milk and sugar, but it can be drunk with just water.
