Ultra dark and lusciously thick, this aromatic, molasses-like honeydew is made from aromatic bark and leaf resins at the height of summer. This unusual honey is rich in mineral salts. Its luscious taste and smooth thick texture make it a delicious compliment to fresh bread or yoghurt. In Italy, it is enjoyed with fresh ricotta or good pecorino cheese.
This Seggiano honey is produced by the bees of Mauro Pagliaccia, keeper of some 500 bee families, with some help from like-minded beekeepers in Lazio, Italy.
Good husbandry, cold extraction of the honey, and Mauros personal pride in its integrity ensure natural, raw honey of rare taste and quality.
Seggiano donates a percentage of the price of this honey to fund the bee colony collapse research.
