I'd picked up a bag of the high roast decaf from the shop, and really liked it - certainly compared to the bland decafs from so many other sources. However, when I then ordered four 250g bags for delivery the following week, I was really disappointed. The decaf was so bitter, no amount of backing off with the weight of beans, whether for espresso through a commercial machine, or through the Aeropress for bigger cups of coffee, made much difference. The very dark beans also had to be ground much more finely than any I'd used before in my commercial grinder, otherwise they'd under-extract. I probably just got beans from an over-roasted batch, but I wouldn't risk this decaf again, such has been my poor experience. I'm currently mixing what's left of these beans with a less ferocious decaf from another supplier, until they're finished.
